Monday Morning

Now it is summer in Santa Cruz, which means the days begin foggy and overcast, no wind; about 52 degrees. It seems hard to remember that by afternoon it will be clear, sunny and in the mid-70s.
After writing a bit and having a cup of Earl Grey tea, I went out to water the garden. Every day I try to bring a few more square feet of it into order: today that meant digging around the front gate and raking over the soil before watering. I wonder if the 9-part grid of Feng Shui applies in a garden too, and resolve to ask my cousin who is a landscape gardener and teaches Feng Shui. If so, I might be in trouble - unlike the interior of the house, this garden has some really gnarly spots!!
V. and I had good conversation over breakfast at our second-favorite place, which tries to be a 1950's Paris café (breakfast and lunch only). The food is good, but Martha of the wait staff is an angel: a lovely young Mexican mother who emanates warmth and humor. Looking into her eyes is like enveloping myself in a warm velvet cloak.
Mailed some letters, arranged some appts., then went to yoga for an hr and a half. Lovely class taught by a lithe and flexible young woman with a voice like pure water.
